WHAT IS THE MYO MUNCHEE?

A simple habit with long-term impact

The Myo Munchee is designed to encourage active chewing - a natural movement that helps support the muscles of the lips, face, and jaw.

In a world of soft foods and busy routines, many of us aren't getting the kind of chewing our development relies on. The Myo Munchee gives a simple, structured way to build that habit back in.

To take the inter-canine width, measure the straight line distance between the top two pointy (canine) teeth, tip to tip.

Are you in-between sizes?

When in doubt, we recommend sizing down - a more manageable fit works more effectively, and it's the better call during growth and transition phases when children often fall between sizes.

A smaller size is also often the right choice if your child:

Is small for their age, or has a narrow palate, crowding, or a history of tongue-tie

Struggles to keep their lips together, drools, or has lower oral tone

Mouth breathes, is a picky eater, or has oral habits like thumb or dummy sucking

How to use your Myo Munchee

A few minutes a day - simple to build into your routine

Start with 2–3 minutes, 1–2 times daily

Gradually build up to 5–10 minutes over time

Place

Pop the Munchee between the teeth and let the lips rest gently together. No need to bite down hard - it should sit comfortably, not feel forced.

Place your Myo Munchee

Relax

Chew lightly and let the jaw do the work at its own pace. There's no right speed and no force needed. Slow, easy movements are exactly right.

Relax while using your Myo Munchee

Breathe

Keep breathing in and out through the nose the whole time. Stay relaxed and let the breath stay slow and steady.

FAQs

  • Sizing is based on age and inter-canine width — the distance between the top two pointy (canine) teeth, measured tip to tip.

As a general guide: Mini (18 months–4 years), Junior (4–8 years, 30–35mm), Tween (8–14 years, 33–37mm), Adult (14+, 35–40mm). When in doubt, size down — a smaller fit works more effectively.

  • It comes down to repetition, positive encouragement, and frequent interactions every day — that's how people find success with their children.

An easy way is to integrate it into the daily routine. Many parents only allow TV or gaming time when the Munchee is in use. Others combine it with bedtime stories, car travel, or bathtime.

The Munchee Moves are a wonderful way for children to combine Munchee time with movement — family fun for all!

  • We usually recommend a 5-minute chew, twice a day, although this will vary depending on age, ability, level of dysfunction and goals.

Start with 2–3 minutes once or twice daily and gradually build up to 5–10 minutes over time. If your child is dealing with dysfunction, speak with your treating practitioner for personalised guidance.

  • The Myo Munchee is made of medical-grade silicone. After chewing, rinse it with fresh water, give it a good shake, dry it off with a tissue, and store it in a location with good airflow — just as you would a toothbrush.

For an extra clean, you can occasionally rinse with bicarb soda, rinse very well, and then place in just-boiled water for one minute.
