Dear Parent,

Welcome to the world of Myo Munchee, connecting the dots around chewing, breathing, sleeping and health.

We are passionate about providing opportunities for children to reach their oral milestones as nature intended, some children need a little help with this. As a parent you may be seeking assistance for your child, or your health practitioner may have recommended the use of a Myo Munchee. We’d like to help you understand more about the benefits the Myo Munchee may provide.

For the past 50 years, children worldwide have benefited from the simple act of chewing this simple device, to help create the perfect balance between correct muscle functions, teeth position and jaw development. Modern-day health practitioners are now increasingly aware that much of what we once thought was ‘normal’ in a child’s development can be attributed to dysfunctional chewing, swallowing, and breathing patterns. Narrowing of the top jaw and baby teeth that have no spaces, eating with their mouth open, choosing only “easy to eat” foods, chewing but not swallowing foods are some examples. The GOOD NEWS is that those same clinicians now recognise how these incorrect patterns of growth and development can be corrected or modified with some early and simple intervention!

The Myo Munchee range is available in five different sizes, please refer to the sizing guide on our website or talk with your Munchee Certified Practitioner.

When introducing your child to the Myo Munchee, start slowly and build up the amount of time they will be ‘Munchee-ing’. Generally, about 10 mins twice a day is ideal. This can be incorporated into your daily activities.

In most cases, the practitioners who recommended Myo Munchee will also be able to follow your child’s progress. However, in circumstances where this is not possible, we have provided a simple checklist of some of the more common reasons that the Myo Munchee may assist your child to meet their oral milestones setting the stage to reach their optimal growth and development.

To use this checklist

  1. Tick the areas you feel may need improving
  2. Add your beginning date
  3. Take some pictures of your child at the beginning and at each check point so that you can have a visual reference of any changes. It is great to include pictures of
    1. Straight face, no smiling, lips together.
    2. Same photo but with lips open so that you can see how the teeth are positioned.
    3. Side view profile of the face to see the alignment of the forehead, nose and chin.
    4. Also video your child chewing their Myo Munchee.
  4. Come back to the checklist each month for 3 months and record the changes you notice
  5. You have now tracked your child’s changes over the past three months. Where to from here? Use this checklist to discuss the outcomes with your child's health care team.
